FRAPPR MOON

Through the magic of the internet a large and varied international community of people interested in the Moon has self-organized. There are actually a number of overlapping communities including a largely amateur Yahoo Lunar-Observing group, a professional Lunar-L listserv, and visitors to LPOD. I have created this social networking map for LPOD as a tool to learn more about each other. I hope you will add yourself, including a photo and a few words about your interests or URL of your website. There is room for only 70 letters and spaces so you have to be succinct! In addition to seeing what we each look like, you also can see quite closely where everyone lives (by clicking the + button at bottom right). This means you can easily discover if a Moon aficionado lives nearby. But be warned that the dot for your location may be somewhat off from your actual address - perhaps it plots the position of your internet service provider! I consider this Frappr map an imperfect way to share information on the lunar community because there is too little space to include text and clickable URLs. But unless we all make MySpace pages it may be the best we can do, for now. Lets see how long it takes for 100 people to add themselves to the LPOD Frappr map and then how long for 1000!
