Julius Franz is famous for measuring the positions of features near the limbs of the Moon. He also published this small popular book about the Moon. Although the map is simple it has a few perhaps unnoticed virtues - it possesses an accurate latitude and longitude grid, and it includes new names - such as Mare Orientale - given by Franz.
