1960 was a banner year for lunar atlases with Kuiper's monumental many pound work and this relatively tiny one by two Japanese astronomers. I have used both and find the paperback book-sized Miyamoto and Hattori Atlas is the most convenient by orders of magnitude! The picture scale and quality are much lower than the Kuiper Atlas but good enough to be useful and a handy reference. This would have been a famous and widely used atlas if it had been published in the open literature rather than as an observatory publication. |
