Chang'e-2 image from Sina-English

China has just released five images taken by their Chang'e-2 spacecraft that has been orbiting the Moon since Oct 6. I can't find all the images on the China Lunar Exploration Program website, but some searchers who have been more successful have shown three of high quality. Multiple websites carry the same story that this image shows a photo of part of Sinus Iridum. But as LPOD readers known, this is Daniell, which is hundreds of kilometers to the East in Lacus Somniorum. Regardless of the location this is a new look at a crater that is bizarre. The floor appears to be uplifted, rilled and perhaps tilted a little, like Posidonius. The rim is enlarged to the north and the south by massive slumps that carried ridges of debris to the floor. The reason that this crater has been so unusually modified is uncertain, but I am certain that I want to see more Chang'e-2 images!
