Destination Moon

Just before going into lunar orbit the Virgin Galactic spacecraft does a perfect pirouette to provide the first view of the Moon, filling the porthole with familiar glory. With a great opening line like this, you can imagine the rest of the story yourself.

Technical Details
November 16, 2007 between 8:09 and 8:11 PM EST; taken with earthbound Canon EOS-40D digital camera and Meade 10" LX200 GPS telescope. Starfield added digitally from another exposure. Porthole border created in Photoshop.
